The western Azuero coastline, know as the Azuero Sunset Coast in Panama’s Veraguas province is one of Panama’s most beautiful coastal areas, one hour south of the city of Santiago. The landscape is far more dramatic, than the much more developed eastern side of the Azuero peninsula. Lush mountains descent to scenic beaches, most of them deserted. Plenty of wildlife inhabits the area. The land is sparsely populated, and most locals are involved in cattle ranching or agriculture. Pristine beaches, rivers, waterfalls & mountains greet the visitor. An asphalt road was completed some time ago, and more travelers are discovering the hidden treasures of the Azuero Sunset Coast. A steadily growing North American and European expat community exists around the small town of Torio.
